The Las Vegas police department has joined the world of social media. The department now has its own You Tube channel, Facebook page, and Twitter feed. Although residents are encouraged to “like” or “retweet” posts from the department, the best way to keep up with law enforcement happenings is by subscribing to their You Tube channel.
If you happen to miss a press conference, you can come to the You Tube channel and watch it at your leisure. There are also videos of fallen officers, community events and wanted suspects. You can even find safety information by visiting the police department’s channel.
The Facebook page is primarily devoted to giving the public updates about certain events that are coming up. Some of the activities you can keep up with include charitable events and officer achievements. Information devoted to crime awareness and safety is also posted on a regular basis. You can also find out about some of the speaking engagements police officers take part in on a regular basis.
On the Twitter feed, you’ll mostly find safety information related to weather and traffic. Information about job openings within the department is also tweeted from time to time. Community events such as parades and Nascar race information is sometimes posted as well.
The Office of Public Information is responsible for updating all social media sites for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. To keep up with the latest happenings, check out one of their official pages.
