  • Safe Military Bases Act aims to Reduce Violence by Increasing gun Possession A recent murder on Nellis Air Force Base here in Nevada along with shootings at a Navy base in Washington, D.C. and an Army post in Texas has many people wondering just how safe military posts are anyway. In response to this violence, one lawmaker has introduced what is known as the Safe Military Bases Act in an effort to keep our service members free from violence. The bill was introduced by Representative Steve Stockman, R, TX on September 26, 2013. The goal of this legislation is to “safeguard military and civilian personnel on military bases by repealing bans on military personnel carrying firearms and for other purposes.”
