  • Defendants are sometimes placed on probation as an alternative to jail. The terms of a probation sentence can vary significantly from one person to the next, especially when probation is given for an extended period of time. In order to determine if any of the conditions have been violated, individuals are sometimes asked to undergo probationary review. A probation review hearing is similar to a court hearing, and normally takes place in front of a judge. During this time, a probation officer may testify or present certain evidence showing that an individual has violated the terms set forth by the court.
