DUI Accidents are Never Expected

When a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle, it is tragic, but when the driver is driving under the influence, hits a person and does not stop, it is especially horrific. Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Gordon reported that a hit-and-run occurred like this at about 11 p.m. near the Beltway and Sunset Road.

The pedestrian was walking in the same direction as the driver, 25-year-old, Whitney Greco. She struck the victim and dragged him with the car as she drove over the median where the body fell. He was declared dead at the scene.

Greco kept driving her Nissan across the median into the oncoming traffic of Sunset Road. Her vehicle then crashed into a 2015 Chrysler, but she did not stop. She crossed back over the median again striking a signpost before turning south onto Roy Horn Way. She turned and hit the signal pole before she finally pulled over in the next block where she was arrested by Metro police.

Leaving a party or a bar intoxicated is never a smart idea, but, unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. Whitney Grecco has been charged with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter as the result of this DUI accident. Her life will be changed forever from a drive she didn’t have to take.
